The list has been approved by the Vermont Bird Records Committee and includes 379 species representing 18 orders and 59 families of birds. Vermont Field Card
This checklist contains all the regularly occurring species found in Vermont based on records since 1973. Dates of occurrence are median arrival and departure dates and
are indicated by numbers for the months and by A, B, C, or D for the weeks of the
month. For example, 3C indicates presence in the third week of March. Species known
to breed within the state are marked with an * (asterisk). Rarities, new breeding records, and regularly occuring species outside their expected date range should be reported to the Vermont Bird Records Committee. This checklist is designed to be printed on two sides and folded for field use.
