How You can Help Support VCE

Your support makes an important difference to the Vermont Center for Ecostudies.  The success of our work depends on the generosity of friends like you.  Your gift can be designated to support your favorite VCE project or left unrestricted to support the entire organization. Whatever you choose, your contribution will help us continue to promote wildlife conservation in Vermont and across the hemisphere.

Although we are not a membership organization, we invite you to become a VCE supporter in a variety of ways:

Citizen Scientist

From backyards to remote mountain summits, anyone can contribute to VCE research when they become a citizen scientist. Data from our projects are used to monitor wildlife populations and forge conservation efforts.

Of course, we hope that you will not only contribute your valuable time to our projects, but also consider giving VCE a donation to help our scientists put the data you collected to good use! VCE Citizen Scientists receive our magazine Field Notes each spring and fall.

Conservation Supporter ($50+)

Can't become a citizen scientist, but still want to help VCE? As a Conservation Supporter of $50 or more during one fiscal year, you will help underwrite our projects in Vermont and throughout the western hemisphere. We'll send you Field Notes each spring and fall.

Zadock Thompson Society ($500+)

Named after Vermont's first naturalist who was widely respected in his day as a keen observer of the region's natural history, your generous support of $500 or more during one fiscal year helps us continue this tradition of excellence.

Along with our biannual magazine Field Notes, each Zadock Thompson Society donor receives special invitations to events and field trips led by VCE biologists. Whether we are maneuvering a loon nesting platform into place or listening to the sunset chorus of Bicknell's Thrush on Mt. Mansfield, we will invite you to join VCE biologists to learn first hand about the conservation work we are doing with your help.

Business Sponsors

A distinguished group of generous donors who believe in conserving natural resources where they live and do business, as well as other places across the hemisphere. We welcome companies of all sizes to participate in this program through a variety of opportunities, including event sponsorship, corporate giving, grants, and in-kind gifts. VCE Business Sponsors receive our magazine Field Notes each spring and fall.

Gifts of Stock or Mutual Funds

There may be significant tax advantages to giving stock or mutual funds to VCE, and the process is quite simple. Making a gift of long-term appreciated securities to VCE avoids the usual 20% capital gains tax and the full market value of the stock is tax-deductible. Conservation Tribute Program

Make a contribution to VCE in memory of a loved one or to honor someone special. There is no more fitting way to honor a committed environmentalist than by contributing towards VCE’s conservation program.

When you give an honorarium or memorial gift, the person honored or the family of the person memorialized will receive an acknowledgement of your tax deductible gift. Your token of appreciation recognizes that person's commitment to conservation at the same time that it broadens and continues their legacy by supporting VCE’s work.
