The VLRP biologist provides important input to the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources when management decisions are being made about lakes and ponds.  Most issues pertain to water levels, dams, boating regulations, and lead fishing gear regulations.  The VLRP biologist also coordinates the efforts of VFWD game wardens and biologists, veterinarians, hydroelectric companies, and other groups help in various ways:

Tufts University – mortality studies
Biodiversity Research Institute – toxicology studies
Northeast loon groups – information sharing on management, outreach, and research
National Wildlife Federation – lead sinker education

Occasionally, the VLRP provides input on when Eurasion milfoil clean-up efforts can take place and development and logging activity.
